Ben Bernstein: Sounds
Flavor of the Week
(BB)

Ben Bernstein
I wrote this upon the request of Songwriter Anthony Peterson with whom I studied. He asked for a relationship setting at a coffee shop.
We weren't anything again
Hanging out at Starbucks, my tongue kept sippin' in
Your Double Grande Mocha Frappe Flavor of the week
As you moved your lips to speak
I didn't hear your voice, my cup had sprung a leak
just as my java jacket fell between my feet
She walked by the table
Yes I think, no I'm willing, I'm able
To take this chance, and make romance with the girl who cleans the tables
Yes the girl who cleans the tables
I cooly spill your drink
Her eyes meet with mine, she moves without a blink
Mopping up the frothy fallen flavor of the week
She turns to me to speak
that's when I feel your hand make contact with my cheek
But I don't feel the sting as she sweeps me to my feet
She says "Boy, you look willing and able"
"Yes, I am, willing and able"
to make romance, and have this dance
with the girl who cleans the tables
Your the girl who cleans the tables
Say you want to be with me
but how long will you stay
oh, my eyes can clearly see
this dance won't last a day
We aren't anything again
Hanging out at Starbucks, trying to get back in
the blissful brewing blended buzzkill Flavor of the Week
keeps me unstable
You see I'm completely unable
to resist a chance, to make romance with the girls who clean the tables
I like girls who clean the tables
