Great question! Think of a music producer as a master contractor overseeing the entire project from start to finish. This person has a deep knowledge of not just gear, but music. Combining these skills with project management, personnel and a touch of psychology, and great muic music producer can make a huge difference in getting your recordings to sound the way you envision. They also know all the right session musicians and other professionals to round out your production team.
A mixing engineer takes the final recorded tracks and organizes, EQ’s, and makes your song sound like art. Think of a 24 lane hiways that needs traffic to flow seemlessly through a 2-lane offramp with with no frequencies bumping into each other or unnecessary noise. That i the mixing engineers job, traffic control!
Lastly, the mastering engineer takes the final 2-track, 5.1 immersive mix ad polishes it. Think of an awesome suit that has to go to the tailor before you can look your best… that is mastering!

YES…but seriously, these days one person can and often does it all! but, there are good reasons and arguments to divide the labor. Often, when I have produced, recorded and mixed a record I recommend we outsource mastering. IT’s just another set of ears before we share with the world.

In a nutshell, ME! Personality is a HUGE piece of the process. Who do you want to go into the depths of your creative soul with?
Lots of pro’s know their gear, and others know their music theory, but not everyone, in fact a small percentage, have technical proficiency, musical depth, soul and a winning character, that’s me!

I have playing the bass in all it’s forms since high school. I also play a ton of guitar, rhythm ann lead, acoustic and electric. I consider myself a decent rock n’ roll keyboardist (piano/organ) and drummer. Oh, I also love playing the Uke!
If I cant play the part, I know someone who can!

Miles Davis put it best… “Good music is good no matter what kind of music it is."
I firmly believe that, and without painting myself in a sonic corner, I will offer that I am very attuned to the Americana Genre.
What is Americana Music?
According to the Americana Music Association, Americana is “contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw. While acoustic instruments are often present and vital, Americana also often uses a full electric band.”

For smaller sessions, mixing and mastering, I work at my home studio, just a stone’s throw from San Francisco.
For full band sessions, we’ll pick a larger studio that fits your project and budget.
